  • October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and through October, lake-area businesses will be taking donations and selling purple ribbon cards to raise money for Citizens Against Domestic Violence/Victim Outreach Center.

  • October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and through October, lake-area businesses will be taking donations and selling purple ribbon cards to raise money for Citizens Against Domestic Violence/Victim Outreach Center.
    The Purple Ribbon Campaign is being offered at Paul's Supermarket where staff is selling purple ribbon cards at the cash register. Anyone that makes a contribution will be added to the wall of donors.
    Other business are selling the cards and include: Bank Star One and Save-A-Lot.
     
    About CADV
    CADV/VOC is a not-for-profit organization that offers various services including a 24-hour hotline, support groups, crisis intervention, food, shelter, advocacy and support to victims of domestic and sexual violence. A new shelter was recently built in Camdenton.
    So far in 2013, CADV has covered 354 hotline calls, provided 2,066 bed nights, assisted 276 new victims and 430 ongoing victims, provided support for 49 SART hospital calls, and free counseling to 316 women in need.
