  • Well at just about the witching hour a catastrophe was averted. The same bill that could have been passed two weeks ago passed with bipartisan support in both houses of congress. What were the results of the Tea Party shutdown?
Estimates are that Sen. Cruz filled his coffers with about $2 million, but the cost to America’s economy is estimated to be upwards of $24 billion. And what are the Tea partiers trumpeting as a win? If it wasn't so bizarre, it would be laughable.
For the last ten months or so, the Republicans in the house led by that ace investigator Rep. Issa, have been calling for an investigation of the corrupt IRS. Some have even called for the IRS to be done away with.
So to snatch "victory" from the jaws of defeat what did they latch onto as their winning chip? They insisted that the Democrats allow the same IRS review the requests for health care subsidies allotted under the Affordable Healthcare Act.
This was a no brainer for the administration  since that was already a provision of the ACA law.
    Talk about a hollow victory!
Now that the true agenda of the Tea Party has been expose, and rational Republicans  have stood up to be counted, perhaps we can get around to doing the important things like job creation and infrastructure repairs and immigration reform.
