 Thomas L. Peoples, age 78, of Laurie, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach.  He was born June 17, 1935, in Versailles, Missouri, a son of the late Henry Arthur and Sadie (Ritchie) Peoples.

 On March 1, 1960, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kelly, who preceded him in death on February 25, 1977.

 Tom was a United States Army veteran and worked as a general contractor for many years.

 He was a very active member of the Gravois Mills Lions Club. He served five terms as president, was the chairman of Bingo and organized many other functions.  He was also a member of the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach.

 Tom enjoyed spending his time building model steam engines.  Most of all, he was an amazing grandpa who loved his grandchildren unconditionally.

 He is survived by his sons, James Peoples and wife Claudia of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Rohn Rutledge and wife Shawnda of Sioux Center, Iowa and Robert Rutledge of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his daughters, Betty Lou Furlough and husband Nick of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Paula Kohl and husband Keith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Dan Peoples and wife Nadeen of Versailles, Missouri, Helen Burkhart of Versailles, Missouri, Quintin Peoples of Versailles, Missouri and Ron Peoples and wife Sue of Tipton, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.

 A celebration of Tom’s life will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 22nd, at the Gravois Mills Lions Club.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 25th, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Graveside services and interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gravois Mills Lions Club.  Expressions of sympathy may be left online at  Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
