  • Louis M. “Lou” Wermers, age 101, of Gravois Mills, formerly of Boonville, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Laurie Care Center. He was born July 18, 1912, in Ethan, South Dakota, a son of the late Anton and Sophia (Gerrath) Wermers.
    He was united in marriage to Marjorie Pettigrew of Jamestown, Missouri. She preceded him in death in 2005.
    Lou was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II. He retired from Fischer Manufacturing Company in Tipton, Missouri as a sales manager.
    He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Jamestown and also the Osage Community Elks Lodge #2705 in Laurie.
    He is survived by his daughter, Sharri Willers (John) of Boonville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Robin Stauffer (Ken) of Conway, Arkansas, Stacia Pusateri (Marc) of St. Louis, Missouri and Mark Willers of Springfield, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Dustin Ponder and Christian and Lexi Willers. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and four sisters.
    Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 23rd, at the Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jamestown, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, October 22nd, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery Association or to the Elks Christmas Fund. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
