The Mustangs are on a tear this season, as the Eldon squad has now won four games in a row. The goal for this team entering this season was to find their footing and play well, all while avoiding the ups-and-downs they dealt with last season. Consistency is key, and Coach Jolley's team is consistently finding the way to win every week.
This week, they play the Southern Boone Eagles, and the Mustangs' run game will be looking to dominate the Eagles from the first play in their last regular season home game. Eldon has scored more than 40 points in five of their games this season, while the defense has allowed an average of 23 points per game. Against the 2-5 Eagles and hosting senior night, the Mustangs have all of the drive they need to increase their record to 6-2.

Coach: Shannon Jolley
2012 Record: 8-5 Overall, 4-3 District
2013 Record: 5-2
Last Game: The Eldon Mustangs football team won Friday's away conference game against Hallsville by a score of 14-7.
Players to Watch:
Raymond Kwok, Sr. RB/LB: Kwok has been steadily putting up good numbers every week, and the Eldon rushing attack is blistering opponents.
Christian Hedrick, Sr. WR/DB: Hedrick's interception last week is not the first one this season, and surely won't be the last. He seems to have a knack for finding the right time to make the play.
Graham Baucom, Soph. OL/DL: Baucom's performance on the field doesn't always put up big numbers, but his position on both the offensive and defensive lines is all about support and a great push. In the match against Hallsville, Baucom put up five solo tackles, two of the being tackles for a loss.

Southern Boone
Coach: Roger VanDeZande
2012 Record: 1-9 Overall, 0-7 District
2013 Record: 2-5
Last Game: The Southern Boone Eagles football team won Friday's home conference game against Versailles by a score of 48-6.
Players to Watch:
David Holland of Southern Boone torched the Versailles Tigers last week with a blazing kickoff return.
Jade Taggart and Grant Anderson (two touchdowns last week) added to the ground attack as the Eagles punished the Tigers in a 48-6 win.
Brice Mueller proved to be quite effective through the air, as his offensive line provided him all day to make the passes.

Eldon Keys to Winning:
1. Contain the offense. Eldon's offense is capable of literally running all over opposing defenses, but the defense has to continue playing well and holding opposing offenses to low-scores.
2. Maintain ball-control. This doesn't mean just holding onto the football in the game. It means owning the time of possession, and the more time the ball is in Eldon's possession, the less time it spends in the opponents, which usually translates to a win.
3. Win the turnover battle. In last week's match against Hallsville, the Mustangs' ability to force turnovers and capitalize proved to be the deciding factor of the game.
