Two Jefferson City people were injured after an accident involving one vehicle occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
Osage Beach Police officers responded to an injury accident on west Highway 54 in the area of the Nichols Road ramp.
The accident occurred as a west bound gold 2005 Chevrolet driven by Ann M. Bennett, age 43 of Jefferson City, went off the right side of the road striking the reflective markers and into the ditch. The vehicle continued westbound in the ditch for several hundred feet when the driver overcorrected, driving across the west bound lanes striking the concrete median between the east and westbound lanes.
The vehicle then rebounded off the median and spun around traveling backwards in the westbound lanes. The vehicle again crossed the lanes of traffic, striking the right side ditch between the highway and the Nichols Road ramp. The vehicle continued through the ditch, up the embankment and across the ramp coming to rest against the guard rail on the right side of the Nichols Road ramp.
Both Bennett and her passenger, 31-year-old Andrew A. Gilpin, also of Jefferson City, were transported to Lake Regional Hospital by Osage Beach Ambulance accompanied by Osage Beach Fire Department personnel.
Bennett was charged with DWI and Careless and Imprudent Driving. Additional charges will be filed with the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. Bennett was released on summonses due to her injuries. Gilpin sustained serious injuries and was transported to the University of Missouri Medical Center.
