  • Walmart theft goes awry, two in custody

  • After an attempt to flee the scene of an alleged shoplifting crime, two Eldon residents were arrested Wednesday.
    Osage Beach officers responded to a 911 call to the Walmart Super Center in Osage Beach. A female shoplifter had been apprehended by Walmart Loss Prevention personnel and had been taken to the loss prevention office to await the arrival of Law Enforcement personnel.
    While in the loss prevention office, the female suspect, later identified as Morgan L. Horton, age 22, from Eldon, ran from the office, exited the store and jumped into a red 2006 red Chevrolet pickup truck. Officers stopped Horton near the an exit of the Walmart parking lot as she was attempting to flee the area by way of the Osage Beach Parkway.
    Based on a description given by store personnel, Horton's male companion, Jacob Allen Wilson, age 30, also from Eldon, was located in the parking lot by officers. Wilson allegedly left the store when he saw Horton being taken into custody by Loss Prevention personnel and was then left behind when Horton fled the scene.
    Horton was arrested and charged with misdemeanor stealing by shoplifting and Wilson was taken into custody on two City of Eldon warrants for Failure to Appear original charges traffic and possession of drug paraphernalia.
