Worked in the White House for three years

Dorcas Woodruff, age 91, beloved wife of William (Woody) L. Woodruff, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013, at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Dorcas was born May 25, 1922, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and was preceded in death by her husband, “Woody” on December 9, 1982.

Dorcas, at the age of 18, worked for Senator Reynolds at the White House in Washington, D.C., it was during this time in Dorcas life that she and Woody met and were married. Dorcas worked in the White House for 3 years before becoming a wife and homemaker.

Dorcas is survived by her daughter; Billie Rhoades and husband, Sam Rhoades of Lake Ozark, Missouri; granddaughters Judy Massongill and Jana Elliot of Denver, Colorado, and Tomi Lang of Wylie, Texas; great-grandchildren, Crystal Ortiz, Taylour Elliott, Talon Elliott, Johnathon Copley, Mason Lang and Victoria Lang; one great-great-grandson, Xavier Ortiz.

Dorcas was preceded in death by her husband, William (Woody) Woodruff; and her parents, John and Bessie Trivet Woodruff.

Dorcas will be dearly missed by all.

No local services are planned at this time.

Burial will be in Fort Sam Houston Veterans Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas on Nov 5, 2013
