Authorities in Miller County arrested a man following a bizarre incident involving an abduction, drug distribution and a discarded handgun.
Miller County Sheriff's Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Mid Missouri Drug Task Force attempted to stop a dark colored Dodge truck late Sunday night. According to law enforcement, the vehicle failed to yield to the officer's lights and sirens on Highway 54 towards Jefferson City.
At one point during the incident, a female passenger got out of the truck claiming she had been abducted by the driver. The female was transported to Lake Regional Hospital and released with minor injuries.
Missouri Highway Patrol eventually stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, John Grandon.
Grandon was charged with Distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, felonious restraint, armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence.
Grandon is currently being held at the Miller County Sheriff's Department on a $300,000 bond.
Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott added that at the time of the chase, Grandon admitted that a Kel-tec 9 mm handgun was thrown out of the vehicle and later picked up by a citizen. Abbott said that the weapon was possibly involved in a crime and he is asking that it be turned over to law enforcement.
