Area police are looking for a recently convicted sex offender who is considered to be dangerous and avoiding law enforcement. Timothy Register removed his court-ordered GPS bracelet prior to an upcoming sentencing hearing after being convicted July 24 on four charges of sex-related child abuse. The Morgan County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney's Office on Sunday, Oct. 13 that Register had removed his GPS bracelet, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. The device was recovered in Eldon. Further investigation and a search of Register's Sunrise Beach residence uncovered a letter stating that he would not return to prison, the press release stated. Register was scheduled to be sentenced at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 in Morgan County Circuit Court. A no bond capias warrant for Register's arrest, signed by Judge Stan Moore, was issued Monday, Oct. 14 for failure to abide a judge's order. Register was convicted of Statutory Sodomy in the 1st Degree for deviant sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 14 with physical injury/display deadly weapon/dangerous instrument/subject victim internally with a person under the age of 12, Statutory Rape in the 1st Degree for sexual intercourse with a person less than 14 and two counts of Child Molestation in the 1st Degree.
