Harper Chapel United Methodist Church celebrated “Serve 2013” at Wonderland Camp Sept. 7. Serve is an annual statewide community service event sponsored by the United Methodist Churches of Missouri. It is always held the first weekend of September.
Fifty-two members of Harper Chapel helped reconstruct park benches with new lumber, sided two buildings, poured new sidewalks, reinforced an existing deck, organized donated items, weeded, raked and general clean up.
All of this would not have been possible without the generous support from the following: J.W. Wacker of Home Depot, Jim Hatcher of RP Lumber, Dave and Josh Humphrey of P.J.’s Concrete, Chuck Fry who supervised the installation of the siding, Jason Sherrill of Elite Roofing and Siding, Dale of High Bros., Jim Jackson of Ozark Ready Mix, WalMart and Caseys.
The mission of Wonderland Camp is to provide a fun, educational camp experience for children, teenagers and adults who are physically and mentally challenged, to offer a respite from daily care giving for
family members and healthcare workers, to provide and nurture a personal development experience for volunteers and staff. For more information on Wonderland Camp, please contact their office at 573-392-1000.
