Six children were uninjured when their bus driver had a medical emergency causing an accident Tuesday afternoon.
Miller County R-III (Tuscumbia) bus driver Phyllis Rush, 65, died following a medical emergency while driving her afternoon route on Opal Road in rural Miller County.
Rush suffered a medical emergency, lost control of the bus and struck a tree off the right side of the roadway. A Staff for Life helicopter was called to the scene, but Rush was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Scott Dudley. Rush's body was taken to Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon.
A replacement bus was brought to the scene to take the children home.
