A pumpkin carving contest will be held in conjunction with opening of the new Eagles' Landing Ciné 8 and the Lake Media Customer/Employee Appreciation Night Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Lake Media and Eagles' Landing Ciné 8 are co-sponsoring the contest, which is open to anyone. Prizes are a year's worth of movies for two people, defined as 52 individual movie passes. Some restrictions may apply.
Pumpkins must be registered or dropped off between noon and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the theater, which is on the northeast end of Eagles' Landing. Judging will take place between 7 and 8 p.m. Oct. 29.
The contest is not open to Wehrenberg Theater or Lake Media employees or their immediate family members. Winners will be contacted no later than Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Registration will be at time of the contest.
Other rules include:
•Participants can buy or grow their own live pumpkins. Artificial pumpkins will not be allowed. Carving must be done off-site.
•Participants may enter more than one pumpkin.
•Pumpkins must be fresh at time of entry. Judges have the right to refuse any pumpkin deemed not fresh at entry time.
•No purchase is necessary to win.
•Pumpkins must be reclaimed after the contest. Those unclaimed by end of business Wednesday, Oct. 30, will be disposed.
•Pumpkin entries must not contain candles or flames.
•Winners under the age of 18 will need a parent or legal guardian present at the time prizes are released.

Wehrenberg Theaters and Lake Media are hosting the Appreciation Night for customers and lake-area employees. Doors open at 6 p.m. and movies begin at 7. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Movie admission is a toiletry item (toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, etc.) or a new toy for a boy or girl age 3-12. Toiletries will be donated to CADV and toys donated to Kids' Harbor.
The theater opens to the general public Friday, Nov. 1.
Construction began in January on the new multiplex theater, which will feature eight digital movie screens including three state-of-the-art 3D digital auditoriums. All auditoriums will include stadium luxury, rocking and snuggle-seating, and sharp, clear digital pictures and sound.
The concession stand will be larger and offer a wider variety of snacks and self-service soda.
Once open, the two Wehrenberg theaters will provide 13 total digital screens for the Osage Beach/Lake Ozark area.
The Osage Ciné 5 in Premium Outlet will remain open.
