James H. "Jim" Fiser, age 89, of Laurie, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013, at his home. He was born July 10, 1925, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, a son of the late Russell and Carrie (Fredrick) Fiser.
On May 27, 1983, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary Parker, who survives the home.
Jim worked in road construction until his retirement. He was proud to help in the construction of Highway 54.
He was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving in World War II from 1943 to 1946.
Jim enjoyed spending his retirement hunting, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his sons, Jerry Parker of Columbia, Missouri and Donald Parker and wife Patti of Los Alamos, New Mexico; sisters, Helen Patton and Beverly Powell both of Olathe, Kansas and two nieces and a great-nephew all of Olathe, Kansas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jim S. Fiser and his brother, Eugene "Dutch" Fiser.
A celebration of Jim's life with full military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3rd, at the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie with Kelly Caldwell officiating.
