Fire damaged a mobile home in Sunrise Beach Friday. Sunrise Beach Fire Protection Units responded to the fire on Solitude Lane shortly before noon. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and the incident was placed under control at 12:10 p.m. Initial reports indicated that pets might have been trapped inside the residence, but those reported turned out to be untrue. The trailer and contents suffered extensive damage.
Crews did not find a working smoke detector inside the mobile home.
“If someone had been home and asleep this could have been a tragic event," Chief Dennis Reilly said. "I strongly encourage all our citizens to install and maintain working smoke detectors in their home.”
People with questions about smoke detectors can contact Fire District headquarters at 374-4411.
