  • More than 100 vendor booths are expected to be at the Eldon Turkey Festival Sept. 28. This one-day festival is full of entertainment and fun in downtown Eldon.
    The day starts off with the Turkey Trot & Gobble Wobble 5K in front of the Eldon Pool at the Air Park at 7:30 a.m. Sign in and late registration is from 6:45-7:15 a.m. Preregister by going to www.cityofeldonmissouri.com.
    The course is 3.1 miles. Entry fee is $15 before Sept. 24 and $20 after. Awards will be given to top male and female finishers in each division.
    At 10 a.m. a parade will be held. There will be a quilt show from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Eldon Community Center gymnasium. At 5:30 p.m. a Demolition Derby will be at the Miller County Fairgrounds. Entry fee is $8 for adults and $5 for students 6-12 years old.
    Vendors will be set up around the downtown area from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. featuring food, arts and crafts and other merchandise.
    In conjunction with the Eldon Turkey Festival, a flower show will be at the First Christian Church in Eldon from 1-4 p.m. No charge to the public. The show will be presented by the Eldon Garden Club, the Arrowhead Garden Club and the Lake Bloomers Garden Club.
