There are some great events around the lake for kids and adults. The Versailles Apple Festival and the Eldon Turkey Festival are perennial favorites as is the Fall Festival at the Camden County Museum in Linn Creek. All are hugely popular with locals and visitors.
There are many events an easy drive from the lake that are well worth heading out for. Waynesville, Dixon and Warsaw are all easy drives through beautiful countryside. When you arrive there is plenty to keep everyone having fun.
Of course Oktoberfest on the Missouri River is an excellent opportunity for a colorful fall drive, excellent food and, of course, some extraordinary wine and beer, much of it made in Missouri. Hermann is the center of the Oktoberfest universe but wineries and towns all along the river east of Jefferson City are having fun as well. The old river roads on both sides of the river offer vistas, views and leaf viewing.
Don’t forget the lake wineries. The weather is perfect for enjoying the view and drinking wine close to home. There is fun waiting among the trees at wineries all around Lake of the Ozarks.
Get out an enjoy fall and have some fun. Check listings of lake wineries and Ozark festivals at www.lakenewsonline.com to plan your perfect fall weekend!
