  • A 65-year-old Gravois Mills man is in critical but stable condition following a shooting at his residence.
    According to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, deputies were dispatched to Wolf Way off Forest Drive Sunday in reference to a shooting.
    Deputies found the victim, 65-year-old Leon Cott, with a gunshot wound to the head in his driveway. Emergency personnel transported him to the hospital for treatment. As of Monday afternoon, Cott had exited surgery and was in stable condition.
    A suspect was taken into custody a short time later at his residence on Forest Drive without incident. 29-year-old Timothy Stovall was charged with first degree assault and felon in possession of a firearm. His bond was set at $500,000 ten percent cash or surety.
    The motive for the crime in unknown at this time. Deputies hope to interview Cott when cleared to do so by doctors.
