On April 9, 1963, 128 individuals began the organization of what was to become the Camdenton United Methodist Church.
On April 9, 1963, 128 individuals began the organization of what was to become the Camdenton United Methodist Church. With faith and a lot of hard work, their efforts grown through the years to 485 members on the church roster.
The church is now observing it's 50th anniversary having spent a "summer of celebration" with numerous special programs and services. The celebration will conclude with a special church service to be held Sunday, Sept. 29. All previous clergy and charter members have been invited to participate along with individuals from the church conference office.
Our special service will conclude with a dinner and program to be held in the fellowship hall where special recognition of charter members is to be made.
The original land and church building plus furnishings cost approximately $173,000. With the first service held in the church on Feb. 6, 1966. Since that time, additional facilities were added. In Feb. 1991, a parsonage was added at a cost of $30,576. In 1995, a $335,000 expansion to the fellowship hall and in 1996 the United Methodist Men built a two-car garage/storage area.
