A gender has been established for the remains of a person discovered in Camelot Estates over the weekend. A person of interest has been taken into custody.
According to Camden County Sheriff's Department, the body discovered in Camelot Estates on Sunday, Sept. 15 has been confirmed as a female. Positive identification will have to be done by DNA analysis as the body was severely decomposed. Samples from the body have been sent to a laboratory in Texas for the extraction of DNA to be compared with known samples.
Investigators believe the body to be that of the woman who rented the home in Camelot. On the evening of Sept. 17, detectives from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Eldon Police, Jefferson City Police, and the United States Marshals Service arrested a person of interest on unrelated outstanding warrants. Jamison D. Shelton, 30, of no fixed address, was taken into custody without incident at a Jefferson City motel. Shelton is a known associate and recent roommate of the tenant of the Camelot residence.
