Eldon School District officials confirmed a lock down at South and Upper Elementary on Tuesday afternoon. The lockdown happened around lunch time Tuesday because of an upset parent according to Superintendent Matt Davis.
"We had reasonable concerns with a parent coming to school and we called law enforcement for assistance," Davis said. "Our access control system into the school worked great and the parent was not able to enter the building. The issue was then resolved by law enforcement."
The issue occurred outside of South Elementary, but since Upper Elementary is next door, school officials decided to put it on lock down also.
Davis added that because of the new security access system, school officials were able to keep the parent out of the building and resolve the issue outside. He feels as if this helped the situation and kept it from disrupting school hours.
Davis said that the children were not in danger and that a lock down may not have been necessary but he would "rather err on the side of safety."
The child is allowed back to school but the parents involved are now not allowed back on school grounds according to Davis.
