Earl L. King, age 95, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was born December 10, 1917, in Bethany, Missouri, a son of the late Samuel and Myrtle Linville King.
Earl was a United States Army veteran, having served in WWII.
He was a member of the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie, a life member of the Masonic Lodge #97 in Bethany, life member of the Camdenton VFW Post 5923, a member of Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach, where he received “Legionnaire of the Year” in 1995. He was also recognized for his dedication and effort that created a lasting tribute to the Memorial to Veterans of all Wars.
Earl is survived by his son, Steven King of Sunrise Beach; daughter, Connie Reimers and husband Roy of Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Lillian Kent of Red Bay, Alabama; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three wives, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 17th, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel with full military honors to follow. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Bethany, Missouri.
