A Centertown, Mo. man died following a one-vehicle accident in rural Miller County.
A Centertown, Mo. man died following a one-vehicle accident in rural Miller County. Alexander Benke, 21, was driving a 1999 Ford on Highway 87 near Abbott Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, hit a mailbox off the left side of the road, returned to the road and overturned off the right side of the road after striking an embankment.
Benke was taken to Lake Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A passenger, 83-year-old Juliann Rockers, also of Centertown, Mo. sustained minor injuries. She was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City for treatment. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Benke was not wearing a seat belt while Rockers was. This is Troop F's fourth fatality in September.
