  • After resigning as Camdenton Middle School principal Aug. 29 following a public personnel hearing that lasted some 15 hours, Sean Kirksey is now the interim high school principal for Crocker High School.
He began work there this week, according to Superintendent Gary Doerhoff.
Kirksey was accused of mishandling Camdenton's spring MAP testing.
Kirksey faced three charges against him all pertaining to MAP testing including splitting a portion of the communication arts test into two days that was meant to be tested in one sitting, allowing untrained proctors to administer and be with students in a testing room and not showing leadership in his role as a principal by violating DESE and board policies.
After public outcry and at Kirksey's request, his personnel hearing was open to the public. It began at 9 a.m. Aug. 28. The public portion of the hearing closed at 12:30 a.m. with school board members deliberating until 4 a.m. Aug. 29.
The school board announced its decision to accept Kirksey's resignation on Aug. 30.
In consideration of his resignation and a full release of any claims, the board agreed to honor the balance of his 2013-14 contract.
Doerhoff declined to release the salary of the high school principal's position.
