Mid County Fire Protection District's board of directors recently approved the purchase of approximately 4.8 acres on Pier 31 Road. The lot will be the home of the future seventh fire station for Mid County.
Chief Scott Fransden said that since the district is so large, there are still residents that live outside the five-mile radius of a station. The future station will serve residents living in Camelot, Cross Creek, Pier 31 Road, Bear Paw Road and along the Niangua Bend.
The land was purchased for $51,077, but a new station will not be built until funds are available. According to Fransden, the district was able to purchase the land because they refinanced bonds two years ago.
The other Mid County station locations include station one in Camdenton, station two in Greenview on Twin Rivers Road, station three on AA in Roach, station four in Montreal, station five on Old Highway 5 in Decaturville and station six along D Road.
