  • The complex case of Sean Kirksey, the Camdenton middle school principal and his involvement with state testing proceedures is at an end.
The conclusion is a disappointment for some, particularly the students and parents who supported him throughout the process. One of the longest and most comprehensive public airings of a personnel matter in memory ended with the principal’s resignation. That then is the end of this sad chapter.
A lot of good things occurred during the former principal’s tenure at Camdenton. He was, and is, held by high regard by a lot of people in the district. That should serve him well as he continues his career elsewhere. We wish him well.
Now it is time for those on both sides of this issue to move forward as well. The testing controversy is over.
There will be changes for administrators but no change in the school’s long history of excellence.
We suggest that this episode be put behind us and support for the school be put back at the top of everyone’s agenda. It is a new school year, a clean slate as they say. Let us all take that mindset forward.
