New Student Welcome is from 5-7pm on the court house lawn. The event is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce Merchants Committee. Food, fun and promotional items will be given away by many area businesses to welcome new students from MACC and Truman State University. A free hotdog meal will be provided with student ID. The NEMO Triathlon will be at Thousand Hills State Park. Be there by 8 am to watch 200 athletes swim, bike and run. Parking is available at the Marina. Watch the swimmers go by and then walk to the point to see the transition and the finish line. Call 660-626-2213 for more information.
The Kirksville Air Fest begins at 12 noon at the Kirksville Regional Airport. The event is free and open to the public. Watch the tandem parachute jumps. See the A-47 and many other air craft which will be on dispaly. Watch the TSA demonstration and enjoy the kids zone and the food vendors. Boy Scouts are invited to earn their aviation merit badge. The Kirksville Arts Association is hosting an exhibit by the extraordinary watercolorist, Paul Jackson. The exhibit will be here until October 31st. The artist will conduct a Lunch and Learn from 11:30 to 1:00 pm. The Arts Association will host a reception honoring the artist from 5:30-7:00 pm. Paul Jackson is considered one of America’s greatest contemporary watercolorists.
