The Annual Westlake Street Machine Fall Follies is back for its 9th year at the Laurie Fairgrounds. The judged car show is open Sept. 7-8 to all cars, trucks, drag boats and motorcycles, but is also offering entertainment for everyone. Proceeds from the event benefit Westlake Aquatic Center.
For car buffs
In addition to the many vehicles on display throughout the 27 acre fairgrounds both days, parts dealers will be open and Pinstriping by Eric will be available on Saturday. A group of cars will parade down Highway 5 to the Hurricane Deck Bridge on the south end of Sunrise Beach at 10 a.m. - just in time to cross the newly completed bridge during a special ribbon cutting ceremony by the Missouri Department of Transportation. At 4:30 p.m. Saturday, cars will cruise through Laurie. Sunday will feature an engine blow. The person to guess how long the engine will last will get half the pot.
Something for everyone
A beer garden and food vendors will be open for the event. Duck races will be held at the waterway, and the aquatic center will be open for anyone interested in swimming. A play area for the kids will be available as well. During the day Saturday, MelaniD will provide entertainment. Random Access will be the entertainment for the evening. The movie American Graffiti will be shown after dark. Fireworks by Premier Pyrotechnics will light up the night sky Saturday at the fairgrounds.
