Only one of the three lake area football teams emerged with a win in Friday night's season opener, and that was the Camdenton Lakers, who managed to mount a comeback and defeat Hillcrest, a rival for the Ozark Conference crown this season. The Lakers defeated the Hornets with a final score of 17-14. The other three lake area teams all fell in close matches, all decided by a touchdown or less. Eldon fell to Miller Career Academy in a high scoring 48-42 loss at home, while Versailles and Osage both fell in on the road, with Versailles taking their first loss under new head coach Broc Silvers in a close and hard-fought 35-32 loss. Osage's defense made huge stops to keep the Indians in the game, but couldn't hold back the final touchdown from Fulton, falling 28-22.
