The Hillbilly Fair committee is bringing a new event to the Laurie fair in September. There will be a Junior Miss Hillbilly Queen Contest in addition to the King and Queen contest held for adult couples.
Girls ages 15-18 years of age may take part just by dressing as a sweet lil' Hillbilly girl.
Judging will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at the main stage in the Laurie Fairgrounds. The girls and their costumes will be judged by a panel of judges. Prizes will be awarded.
The annual Hillbilly King and Queen Contest for couples 21 and older will be held Friday evening, Sept. 13. Have an organization sponsor you for a fun-filled weekend.
The winning couple will be selected through audience applause so have all your friends and family come root you on. Judging will begin at 7:15 with the crowning at 7:45.
Dressed in their Hillbilly attire, the King and Queen will ride in the Hillbilly Fair Parade Saturday morning and will roam around the fairgrounds during the fair on Friday and Saturday. The winning couple will be furnished with a "hillbilly chariot" - a golf cart - to ride around the fairgrounds and will receive a free dinner and free parking pass for all three days of the fair.
All candidates receive a free parking pass for Friday evening.
