  • Have you seen the latest about our wounded warriors who are multiple amputees and have to endure long-term recovery?  These wounded warriors are located in Building 62 at Walter Reed Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. and their sole eating facility in the building is called the Warrior Cafe.   The closest eating facility is a meal wagon half a mile away.   Meal tickets for this cafe has been invalidated, their hours reduced, and they are now closed on weekends.  The patients and their families were told that they could access food privileges half a mile away at a food trailer, but they would have to walk or find their own transportation.  Why?  Because there were concerns that warrior meals were POSSIBLY being misappropriated.

This comes as a shock when our government has done nothing substantial to reduce fraud, waste and abuse of our tax dollars at the GAO and the IRS.  These two agencies have thumbed their noses at the American tax-paying citizen.  The government allowed the GAO to create man caves in government warehouses with big screen TV's, beer kegs and plush seating.  They were also been allowed to hire party planners for multi-million dollar conferences that included, $1,200 to $1,500 a day suites, breakfasts that cost $40 to $50, lobster dinners, psychic readers, meditation consultants, clowns and conference gifts costing thousands of dollars.  Then there is the IRS with line dancing, after it was revealed that the agency workers produced two other videos parodying the "Star Trek" and "Gilligans Island" TV shows for a leadership training course to be held in Anaheim, CA.  These videos cost $1,600 each and were recorded at an IRS office outside DC at the taxpayer expense.  This agency has colluded with the FEC and threatened conservative individuals and groups with audits and threats of fines without exact proof of times and amounts they supposedly were investigating.  This all at a time when most agencies are coping with across-the-board spending cuts, furloughs and the threat of the sequester.  Then there is the money that was found and set aside for military same-sex couples who were granted leave and travel expenses to states where same-sex marriages are allowed, in order to get married and qualify to receive benefits and privileges.
For all of this, our wounded warriors have been forced into a type of third world status.  The dishonor and disrespect that has been heaved on them is akin to the treatment our Vietnam veterans received when they returned from war.
The basics needed for just survival is food, water, and shelter.  All other needs fall under various levels of what is known as comfort.  Without the basics to survive you can not afford the comforts of life, like extravagant travel expenses, man caves, line dancing and pre-paid travel to get married.  Think of it this way;  God, who gave us our liberties and freedom (inalienable rights are universal), sent his son Jesus, to us to teach the value of Christian living and then to die for our sins.  The American soldiers fights and at times gives up their last full measure, to protect those liberties and freedoms.
Page 2 of 2 - Help our returning soldiers by calling your Senator and Representative, let them know that they work for us, "We the People," and that they need to prioritize and take care of our returning soldiers.  We do not want another Vietnam era here.  Our soldiers should take priority over man caves, line dancing, and extravagant travel expenses.
