  • With a simple goal in mind, a group of teenagers descended on Camdenton Middle School on the eve of the start of classes to deliver messages for the first day of school.
Within 30 minutes of their arrival, a multitude of Post-It notes were plastered on lockers to greet students as they arrive for class Tuesday morning.
But these aren't just any sticky notes. They deliver messages of encouragement.
One says, "Welcome to seventh grade." The neighboring locker has note that says, "Hope your day is awesome."
Positive and encouraging notes were stuck on more than 600 lockers at CMS on Monday afternoon by area youth in affiliation with "Operation Delta Smile."
The goal of "Operation Delta Smile" is simple: to encourage the students on their first day and hopefully bring a smile to each students' face.
In a district and building that has been the center of controversy lately, it is refreshing to see something positive line the hallways.
No matter what school lake area children attend, by Tuesday most students will be back in classes.
Because of "Operation Delta Smile," some students will have a few extra words of encouragement to make a typically anxious day a little easier.
