  • Kent Memorial presents the 6th annual An Evening With the Classics Sunday, August 11 at 7 p.m. The concert benefits the Darlene F. Mueller Memorial Fund for Children and the Kent Memorial Lutheran Church and Harper Chapel United Methodist Church music departments.
    Musicians Tracy Garrett, Candace Hagan, Vanessa Hebrank, Michael Lindeman and Margo Strothmann, with special guest pianist Dr. Phillip Todd Westgate, will perform some of the world’s most well-known classics, from classical to Broadway.
    The concert will be held in the church sanctuary, located at 184 Sunset Hill Drive, just off Highway 5, in Sunrise Beach. A reception will immediately follow the performance. An exhibit of the works of several local artists will be on display both before and after the concert.
    Tickets are available at the door for a suggested donation of $10 per person. Seating is on a first-come basis.
     
    About the artists
    Tracy Garrett is the coordinator of music and artistic ministries for Kent Memorial, assistant conductor of the Greater Lake Area Chorale, a member of the chorale’s LakeNotes, and the adult choir at Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, where she also serves as a soloist.
    Candace (Moser) Hagan taught early childhood music for more than 28 years, conducted a children’s choir, and was a private voice and piano teacher.
    Vanessa Hebrank is a member of the Greater Lake Area Chorale, the LakeNotes, and Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, where she is a soloist, handbell ringer, choir member and liturgist.
    Michael Lindeman is active in the community as Director of the Greater Lake Area Chorale and Director of Music at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, and teaches private voice, piano and guitar.
    Margo Strothmann makes music at Kent Memorial. She was the first charter member of The Beethoven Society for Pianists, Margo was the studio accompanist for Metropolitan Opera Bass Richard Best at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
    Phillip Todd Westgate, DMA is associate professor of music at the University of Pikeville, Pikeville, Ky. He is a solo and collaborative pianist and organist.
