Rural Development within the U.S. Department of Agriculture has planned three roundtable forums in Missouri on "Smart" Rural Community development.
A Smart Rural Community uses broadband high speed networks to enable applications that the community can leverage for innovative economic development and commerce, education, health care, government services, security and more efficient energy distribution and use. Broadband facilitates greater interconnection of the community's resources and can prepare and enable citizens' participation in the global economy.
Attend one of the forums to learn how your community can become a "smart" community.
RSVP to Greg Batson, USDA-RD program support director, at 573-876-9304 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The first roundtable will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at the West Plains Civic Center-Walnut Room at 110 St. Louis St. in West Plains.
Another will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Lincoln University, Scruggs University Center-Ballroom at 819 Chestnut in Jefferson City.
The last will be held from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 at State Fair Community College, Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center at 3201 W. 16th St. in Sedalia.
