  • The Camden County commission has changed direction after Commissioner Bev Thomas raised concerns over a proposed ordinance last week.
The Casas Del Lago in Osage Beach subdivision contacted the county about building an entrance to include gates and a security building, but needed the correct permits to begin the process. Since the construction would take place on a road, the county had to make a decision.
During the July 23 commission meeting, commissioners looked at a proposed ordinance that would allow Casas Del Lago permission to build on their private road. Since the ordinance only applied to one subdivision, Thomas was not comfortable with moving forward with the ordinance. Commissioners Kris Franken and Cliff Luber agreed and tabled the issue for further review.
Commissioners now plan to sign off on a resolution that would allow the subdivision to build on the road but would not become a county wide ordinance. The resolution is to include a section requiring the subdivision to have liability insurance on their new construction.
Thomas told the Lake Sun that the road will continue to be a private road.
The resolution is on the agenda for the August 1 commission meeting.
