Editor’s Note: This opinion was also a letter sent to Camden County Commissioners Kris Franken, Cliff Luber and Beverly Thomas in regards to a Lake Sun story on county planning and zoning and Sugarloaf Winery.
I am a Camden County resident, voter and taxpayer. I like to see new businesses come to the Camdenton area.
I have taken friends and relatives from out of town to Sugar Loaf Winery for the view, ambiance and food. People want to come back!
It’s a beautiful scenic place to enjoy the Lake of the Ozarks.
There were 16 pages of Delinquent Taxes reported in the Lake Sun Leader July 26, 2013.
Businesses are struggling and jobs are scarce. Now the P&Z Commission wants to take away this very nice area for tourists and residents to visit! Where are their brains?
According to the Lake Sun article July 26, 2013 regarding the Magruder Quarry and a previous article regarding the Paradise Cove business, there seems to be some waffling on rules.
Or in the case of Sugar Loaf Winery, the commission is finding obscure reasons to stifle this business.
I believe the P&Z Commission is making up rules, which will delay permits and cause increased expense for Sugar Loaf to continue business! It makes one wonder whether there are monetary reasons behind the actions of the Commission.
Is the P&Z taking lessons from Washington?
Is it the objective of P&Z Commission to stifle small business and community growth?
I have attended some of their meetings.
It seems the P&Z dredged up rules to suspend and extend the decisions in order to gain more power over Camden County resident’s property.
They are running tax paying business growth away with their heavy-handed tactics.
I think the P&Z Commission is overstepping their bounds of authority.
Please help put the sanity back into this group!
We love the Winery!
