A four-year-old from Macks Creek and her grandmother's cat got a surprise of a lifetime when they found out that they will be featured on the TODAY show next week.
April Green took a VINE video of her daughter Brooklyn and her grandmother's cat, Hoda Katb.
"I shot the video because Brooklyn is constantly carrying around the kitten and the kitten is so calm about it. Brooklyn has wrapped it up in blankets and pretends it is a baby. Brooklyn says she is practicing holding the kitten because she needs to practice holding a real baby because my sister in law is due in December," Green said. "I really hope Brooklyn doesn't handle the new baby like she does the kitten."
Green's mother-in-law, who happens to be named Kathi, is Hoda Katb's owner suggested to Green that she share the video with Kathie Lee and Hoda on Facebook, so she did. She posted the video on their page and never could have imagined what happened next.
"My mother-in-law and I joked that it would be funny if Hoda saw it or if some one from TODAY saw it. We never in our dreams imagined this would happen," she said. "I like to say that Hoda Katb is very much like Hoda Kotb...she has to deal with a sassy blonde."
A producer from the TODAY show contacted Green days after posting the video. She was told they wanted to share her story on the air. Soon after, she was interviewed by the producer and sent in photos. The plan is for the story to run on Monday during Kathie Lee and Hoda's segment in the 10 o'clock hour of TODAY.
"I was thrilled when they told me that everyone on set has been sharing the video and pictures of my daughter and the kitten. I've attached a few photos. Our whole family is still surprised that this has actually happened," Green said.
