The Lake Regional Hospital Auxiliary will host a forum to educate the community about drug addiction 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, in the hospital’s third floor conference rooms.
Crocker Police Chief Chris Twitchell will present the seminar, which will include exhibits on bath salts, K2 synthetic cannabis and methamphetamines, among others.
The forum is part of Lake Regional Auxiliary’s annual health awareness campaign.
“Every year the Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries chooses a different health topic to educate the public,” says Sue Barfield, Auxiliary president. “This year, we are focusing on addiction. This forum is intended to help participants understand signs a loved one may be abusing substances.”
The forum is free, but registration is required. To register, call 573-348-8222 or visit lakeregional.com/events.
The Auxiliary group also is compiling information and resources to help individuals with other types of addictions, including alcohol, cigarette smoking and overeating.
Lake Regional Health System offers a variety of educational programming topics during the year, such as diabetes, heart disease and childhood obesity. Several health fairs and screenings also are held annually throughout the lake area. For information on upcoming events, visit lakeregional.com/events.
