The public is invited to meet Dr. Joanna Anderson, State Fair Community College’s new president, during a welcome event from 1-3 p.m. July 25 at SFCC-Lake of the Ozarks (LOZ) in the upper level of Stone Crest Mall, 3797 Osage Beach Parkway, Osage Beach. Food will be provided.
Returning and new students may now enroll in fall classes at the SFCC-LOZ campus. Walk-in enrollment will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. that day. Fall classes begin Aug. 19.
About 140 day and evening classes will be offered. Most are 16-week classes, although some eight-week and 12-week classes also are offered. Students may choose from classes in art, accounting, biological and earth sciences, basic skills, business, computer applications, chemistry, criminal justice, early childhood, economics, education, English, geography, health occupations, history, literature, math, music, office administration, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, Spanish, speech and theatre, student success, and wellness.
Two “minimester” classes, Introduction to the Field of Education and American/National Government, will be held between Aug. 1 and 14 before the regular fall semester starts. Three online minimester classes—Music Appreciation, Public Speaking and Women and Health also are offered. Minimester classes offer students a chance to take full-term classes in a short amount of time. Deadline to enroll is July 25.
SFCC-LOZ also offers late afternoon and evening classes at Eldon High School, Second and Pine streets.
To better serve students during peak enrollment times, the LOZ will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday from Aug 1-22. Friday hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All locations will close Aug. 8 for an all-college meeting and opening day of the Missouri State Fair but will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 17.
Students enrolled at SFCC-LOZ can earn an Associate of Arts transfer degree and an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree as well as Associate of Applied Science degrees in business management (in three specialties: marketing/retail, office management and business management), criminal justice, general career studies, construction technology, marine technology, and paraprofessional education.
They also can earn Bachelor of Arts or Science degrees in business, child development, criminal justice, early childhood education, elementary education, nursing, psychology, and sociology on the LOZ campus through a partnership with Central Methodist University (CMU).
