*Editor’s Note: This opinion is in response to an article titled “Hard feelings don’t go unspoken at county” published in the Tuesday, July 2 Lake Sun.
The report, Hard Feelings Don’t Go Unspoken at County by Spree Hilliard, got me reading and re-reading the article several times. The important points that I take away from this reporting are:
Planning and Zoning is rezoning the Pittman’s property and did not tell the owner or give the owner an opportunity to stop the action. And it appears only onecommissioner, Cliff Luber, on the board of commissioners believes the P&Z did wrong.
Planning and Zoning, having been caught doing this “court back door rezoning maneuver,” that had to be done for someone or at the direction of someone, instead of just fixing the error, the entire operation turns into who should apologize to who and that the Pitman’s can pay to have their land zoning changed back to what it was if they pay a fee.
What is going on here?
A visitor to this area, reading the front page must wonder if our county officials are “for the people”, or are “just for some people!”
One thing is for sure, we know who Cliff Luber supports.
The County Planning and Zoning people who made this mistake should have the “you know what” to admit they screwed up and fix the Zoning of the Pittman’s land at no cost to them. After looking at the forms supplied on the web by the county, there are no forms for when the county P&Z screws up that can be filled out to fix their errors.
