A Gravois Mills man has been charged with first degree assault in a shooting July 12.
Gerald Lee Pierce, 36, is also facing charges of armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The shooting occurred around 6:20 a.m. Friday on Route J between Highways 5 and 135 after the escalation of an argument between Pierce and another man.
The male victim was able to leave the scene and go to another location in Morgan County to call for help after being shot with a large caliber revolver.
The victim was shot in the abdomen but the injuries are not life-threatening.
Pierce was taken into custody at his residence without incident by the Morgan County Sheriff's Office on Friday.
He is being held at the Morgan County Detention Center. Bond was set at $500,000 cash or surety.
