The United Methodist Churches in Missouri have a covenant relationship with United Methodist Churches in Mozambique. Doug Fox went on a mission trip to Mozambique recently and shared with the Traditional and Praise and Worship services at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church that the 17 days spent there changed his life.
"The people there have very little of material value, yet they are the happiest people I have ever been around," Fox said.
Harper Chapel United Methodist Church is in a covenant relationship with Bahule United Methodist Church which is in the southern part of Mozambique. The community in which it is located does not have a well so the women and children walk 6 kilometers to a river for their water which is dirty and unsafe.
Bahule has a church building and a parsonage, a large number of children attending. Worship is lively and passionate. Harper Chapel members pray for the members of that church, and they pray for the members of Harper Chapel! For more information, please contact the Church Office 573-348-2617.
