The Way I See It
My name is Dennis Miller and I am a lifelong resident of Kirksville, MO. I have been totally blind since birth and a sports fanatic just as long. I like all sports but love baseball and am a proud lifelong member of Cardinal Nation. It is my honor to be given the opportunity to write a blog for the Kirksville Daily Express and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

Apparently the St. Louis Cardinals traveled light to Chicago and left their bats at home.  The Cardinals were shut out over seven innings by Edwin Jackson and the Cubs bullpen performed very well too as they combined to shut out the Cardinals 3 to 0.  Matt Holiday left the game in the fourth inning with hamstring tightness and is listed as day to day.  The Cardinals and Cubs are playing the second game of their four game series as I write this blog before finishing up with two night games tomorrow and Sunday leading into the four day all star break.

After winning the first two games of their series in New York against the Yankees the Kansas City Royals were soundly defeated in the last two as the Yankees got out their bats and pounded on Royals pitching.  Unless the Royals can turn their offense around very quickly they have little hope of advancing beyond where they are now.  They can certainly make up some ground this weekend as they have a three game series agains the Indians starting tonight in Cleveland but they need to win all three of those games to give them some momentum going into the all star break.

The dummy who writes this blog stated on Wednesday that the British Open was this weekend.  It’s actually the Scottish Open but it does have several players playing who are expected to play in the British Open whenever they actually have that tournament.  The British Open does take place in Scotland though so it’s easy to get confused especially if you don’t care very much.

Those who are not in Scotland are playing in the John Deere Classic which I guarantee is actually being played this weekend.  Then everyone will go to Scotland and wait for the British Open to start.

NASCAR is in New Hampshire this weekend for both Sprint Cup and Nationwide races.

IndyCar is in Toronto for two races, one Saturday and one Sunday.  I’m not aware of them ever doing that before but it’s an interesting concept.  The races are a little shorter than a typical race but the same drivers will compete in both as I understand it.

We’ll be back on Monday with a much more substantial blog looking back at all this weekend’s sports action and a look ahead to next week’s all star game and whatever else is coming up next week.  Thanks for making the effort to read this blog and I hope you will check out all the other blogs on this site.

Have a great weekend!
