Just read A Fable by Mark Twain. It’s a short story that, (as the name suggests) has a moral. It’s about a housecat that sees itself in a mirror and then goes to tell all the other animals. Having no knowledge of mirrors the cat can only describe it as a wonderful flat thing that has a handsome cat in it. The other animals have to go see for themselves and of course only see themselves. They call the cat a liar and a big argument ensues and you get the rest. The moral of the story is that very often people only see what they want to see. I tend to think that you can’t really say they see what they want to see considering they have no concept of a mirror. It would be like calling someone from 200 years ago foolish because they have no knowledge of flight. Anyway I think it’s a good story, check it out sometime.
