Enjoyed spending time with family and friends
Brenda Lee (Duncan) Gatewood, age 51, of Gravois Mills, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at her home. She was born October 23, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, a daughter of Ronald Eugene and Nancy Lou Bloom Duncan.
Brenda managed the gift shop at Big Dick’s Halfway Inn in Gravois Mills for several years. She loved her job and dedicated her life to it.
She was a member of the American Poolplayers Association. In her spare time, she enjoyed needlepoint, cross stitch, crocheting and gardening. She especially loved growing elephant ears and the art she created with them. Most importantly, she loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.
She is survived by her life partner, Michael F. Buerck of the home; her children, Dwan Michelle Terry of Paris, Arkansas, Steven Wayne Terry of Gravois Mills and Randy Allen Bennett and wife Shannon Flippin of Versailles; six grandchildren, Alissa Sky, Brooklynn Storm, Christian, Kyra, Conner and Chance; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; father and step-mother, Ronald Eugene and Ruth Duncan of Independence; brothers, Ronnie Duncan and wife Michelle of Gravois Mills, Russell Duncan of Olathe, Kansas, Carl Duncan of Gladstone, William Young and wife Sarah “Wezziee” of Clinton and Randy Warner of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters, Linda Sue Duncan of Clinton, Donna Ray Chavis of Pomona Park, Florida and Shelly Warner of Independence; several nieces and nephews that loved her dearly along with her family at Big Dick’s Halfway Inn. She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Lou King.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 12th, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel with Chaplain Jeremy Caudel officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, P.O. Box 26, Versailles, Missouri 65084 to assist the family with expenses.
