The increase in natural cover fire activity was largely attributed to fireworks. We experienced a large amount of rainfall in the spring, now ground cover is getting very dry and any ignition source can readily start a fire. The Gravois Fire Protection District is urging all persons to be very careful with any outside ignition source especially fireworks.
Friday July 5 sometime after 11:30 PM a fire coat belonging to one of our firefighters was lost off a fire truck somewhere between Webb Road and Laurie as the unit was returning from a fire. If anyone should find the coat, it is a tan color with the name GRAVOIS on the back, call our district office at 573-374-4442 and we will make arrangements to pick it up.
