July 4
History in these United States
Many historical events in the US occurred on the  Fourth of July. The most well-known is the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Had the colonists lost the war, the Fourth of July would have been just another day in the month of July.
Fifty years later, on July 4, 1826, the second and third Presidents of the US died. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson had both signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
James Monroe, the fifth President, died on the 4th of July in 1831.
