  • Charles Hulin Sellars, Sr., age 87, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at his home. He was born December 19, 1925, in West Eminence, Missouri, a son of the late Fred and Amanda Kelley Sellars.
    On September 2, 1944, in Ottawa, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Marian Halderman, who preceded him in death on March 13, 2004.
    Charles was a United States Navy veteran having served in WWII. He was also a member of the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach.
    He is survived by his son, Charles H. Sellars, Jr. and wife Sally of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; daughter, Barbara Shamp of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Jim Roberson, Quinton Sellars and Amanda McLaughlin; six great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Sellars of Kansas City, Missouri; sister, Ellen Miller of Lawrence, Kansas; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lorene Roberts and Ruby Webb.
    Entombment will be held at a later date in the Garber Memorial Estates Columbarium in Laurie. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
