Lake Regional Health System is pleased to announce Erin Whitcomb, R.N., BSN, has been named manager of the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
The 18-bed ICU/CCU cares for patients who are recovering from trauma, open heart surgery or invasive cardiac conditions or procedures, and patients who need one-to-one, nurse-to-patient monitoring, such as patients requiring ventilator support.
“We are very pleased with the experience Erin brings to this position,” said Patti Muxlow, director of nursing at Lake Regional. “She is a true professional who has a visible passion for patient care.”
Whitcomb first joined Lake Regional in 1997 as a patient care tech working in the Emergency Department. After earning a bachelor of nursing degree from the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing in Columbia, she accepted a position in the Cardiac Surgical ICU at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore in 2003. Whitcomb later became a member of the MedSTAR Health trauma/flight team at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, District of Columbia.
In 2011, Whitcomb and her family returned to the lake area. She rejoined Lake Regional, working in the ICU and most recently as the Stepdown Unit educator.
