  • A new dock regulation adding another layer of safety to existing inspection rules is expected to be adopted by the Osage Beach Fire Protection District at its July meeting, and could become effective as early as August.
About 10-12 people, mostly Realtors, attended a public meeting hosted by the OBFPD Tuesday afternoon to gauge the public’s interest in expanding existing dock inspection rules. The proposal tightens regulations by requiring that a residential dock be inspected and brought into compliance with OBFPD regulations upon transfer of ownership due to the sale of real estate. This must be done before Ameren Missouri issues a new dock permit under the new owner’s name.
According to Fire Chief Jeff Dorhauer, two individuals spoke during the meeting. One person commented to Ameren Missouri representatives, and the other was a representative of the Bagnell Dam Board of Realtors.
The Realtor’s comments were all positive, Dorhauer said, and indicated she wanted to make sure that Realtors are kept in the loop as the OBFPD moves forward with its regulations since changes in the rules will affect them.
An article in Thursday’s Lake Sun inferred that the Realtor’s comments “set the tone” for the meeting and that she “urged the board to adopt” the rules. The Realtor signed into the meeting as a being with a local real estate company, but told the board she was on a dock committee and would be reporting on the meeting, according to Dorhauer.
The Board of Realtors has not taken any action on the proposal, according to a board spokesman, and did not vote to send a representative to the meeting.
The Lake Media reporter was not at the meeting and made some incorrect assumptions on behalf of the real estate agent and the board of realtors. Our apologies.
